Donor
Scalp (back or sides)
Scalp donor hair carries its genetic identity into the beard region — meaning transplanted follicles grow continuously, like scalp hair, and need regular trimming once established. The texture matches because beard hair is itself a thicker version of scalp hair.
A beard transplant suits patients with patchy growth, full beard rebuilds, scarring coverage on the cheek or jaw, and trans-affirming care.
Designing Your Beard
A great beard transplant matches the angle, density and direction of natural facial hair. The cheek and jaw lines lie almost flat to the skin; the moustache angles downward; the goatee follows the chin contour. Each region requires different graft angles and density gradients.
Typical Graft Counts by Region
- Goatee fill: 800–1,500 grafts
- Moustache: 300–500 grafts
- Cheeks (full): 1,500–2,500 grafts
- Sideburns: 300–700 grafts each
- Full beard rebuild: 3,000–4,500 grafts
Recovery and Regrowth
Redness for 5–7 days, scabs gone by day 10. The transplanted hairs shed at week 3 (this is the expected shock-loss). New growth begins at month 3, density at month 6, and final result at 8–12 months — beards mature faster than scalp transplants.
Lifestyle Considerations
Because the implanted grafts are scalp hair, they will grow at scalp speed (about 1 cm per month) and need regular trimming. Some clients enjoy the styling control; others find the trim discipline unexpected. We discuss this candidly at intake.

Questions fréquentes
Réponses honnêtes
Will my beard look natural?
Yes — provided the angles and density are designed correctly. Single-hair grafts placed at low angles (almost parallel to the skin) produce a beard that grows in the same direction as native hair. Multi-hair grafts in the visible "front" of the cheek line are the most common cause of an unnatural look — we use single-hair grafts there.
Will I need to trim my beard regularly?
Yes. The transplanted hairs are scalp hair and grow at scalp speed (about 1 cm per month). Most clients trim weekly or bi-weekly to maintain their preferred beard length and shape.
How does this differ from a scalp transplant?
Same technique (FUE or DHI), different angles and density. Beard grafts are placed at much flatter angles than scalp grafts — almost lying against the skin — which produces the natural "growing out of the cheek" appearance instead of a vertical "sticking up" look.
